There are some born leaders. But the skills needed
for leadership can, to a certain extent, be learnt.
There's no correct way of leading - everyone has
their own style.
There are some core skills that all leaders cite
as important:
Being able to listen
Working with and being supported by a great team
Being able to spot and develop the good ideas of others
Delegating responsibility
Making sure information flows freely.
A good leader will acknowledge their own weaknesses,
and a good team will compensate for them.
Leaders need to be able to create a vision that
inspires others.
Good leaders respond to people individually.
Leaders are creative and don't always follow the
rules.
Leaders have to be persistent and deal with scepticism
and hostility about their new ideas.
Being an inspirational leader is hard work, and
it requires a lot of commitment.
