The disillusioned volunteer

You're setting up an environmental project to recycle mobile phones, and have been working hard for a couple of months with a few volunteers - but you're getting a really slow response from potential supporters. Mike's been with you since the start and you really value his involvement. However, he is now questioning whether he should carry on because he feels that progress is slow and that he can't afford to volunteer any more.

What do you do now?

Read the transcript below and/or view the video, then select an option:

Mike:

'Look, I'm not really convinced this is gonna work. People are so negative.

I'm really sorry, but I don't think I can devote any more time to it. I've got to move on.

It's time I started earning some money again.'

  1. Accept Mike's comments

  2. Try and persuade Mike to stay

  3. Try and find out more about his reasons
